Around 25,000 households in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after intense storm systems swept through the area, bringing strong winds hitting 109km/h.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Impact
Homeowners reported large ice chunks reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that various areas across the state had been hit with large hailstones.

Utility workers were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews activated to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Storm Challenges
At the same time, nearly one thousand households in Victoria also encountered electricity disruptions after Melbourne saw its wettest day in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams responded to over five hundred requests for assistance across the state, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

At one point on the previous day, over twenty-eight thousand energy customers in the state were without power.

Moist weather were forecast to persist along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
Tomorrow was predicted as the most rainy day, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across different parts of both regions.
